AMUSEMENT RIDE – The American engineer George Ferris invented the Ferris wheel, trying to surpass the worldwide glory of Gustav Eiffel. He built the first one for the 1893 World’s Fair, in Chicago, Illinois.
PROTOTYPE HISTORY – The first Ferris wheel was supported by two 140-foot tall steel towers, with a 45-foot long axle between them. The wheel had a diameter of 250 feet and had 36 wooden cars that could each hold up to 60 riders. It was lit up by 3000 of Thomas Edison’s new light bulbs. The first Ferris wheel was a huge success and was considered a marvel of engineering.
SKILLFUL HANDS and SPATIAL PERCEPTION EXERCISE – The “Metal Time” workshop “Amusement Ride” self-assembly model will make you seriously refresh your skills to work with your hands. Many details, the size, and complexity of the design of the model, and the interdependence of different fragments of the Ferris wheel will require exceptional attentiveness, clarity of movements, and technical courage. But the result will cost all the effort spent.
FEATURES and BENEFITS – The “Amusement Ride” model consists of a system of concentric wheels with three types of knitting needles, a demonstration stand, and eighteen cabins. During rotation, the position of the booths does not change due to the weighted lower part, as in the real Ferris wheels.
UNIQUE GIFT – In addition to technical creativity, the spectrum of application of the model is very wide. It can be a delightful toy for children. The wheel will become the central attraction of the children’s entertainment park. In the booths, the child can “roll” small dolls and surprise his friends with a realistic addition to the city model.
